The control and detector lines used by MOVA can be connected to the Gemini unit via
one or more BUS/MOVA I/O cards (parallel interface), via the controller serial link or a
combination of the two. When used with a Siemens controller the serial interface would
normally be used. When connecting to another manufacturer's controller it will be
necessary to use the parallel interface.
The controller serial interface can convey at most the state of 64 detectors so in the
case of an installation requiring more than 64 detectors the balance will have to be
connected directly via a Bus/MOVA card even when using a Siemens OTU and
controller.
