Selection With External Control. For this selection mode, the EXT-ON circuit at the
EXT. I/O (1) connector is closed. The selection of the branch shutter conditions is made with the
branch shutter selection signals at the EXT. I/O (1). Refer to Chapter 3 for pin number detail.
Simultaneous Laser Beam Splitting. The laser beam can be split into up to six
branches, depending on your application requirements. If all branch shutters are opened, six
beams are output to the optical fibers connected to Laser Beam Input Units 1 through 6.
Laser Beam Time Splitting. With this option, only one laser beam is emitted at a
time, regardless of the number of open branch shutters. If more than one branch shutter is open,
the laser gives output priority to the branch with the lowest number. For example, if Branch Nos.
1,3 and 4 are open, the laser beam will be output first to Laser Beam Input Unit No. 1, then to
Laser Beam Input Unit No. 3, then to Laser Beam Input Unit No. 4.
Laser Beam Time Sharing. With this option, up to two laser beam can be emitted
simultaneously. Only Branch Shutter Nos. 1 and 2, or Branch Shutter Nos. 3 and 4, can be
selected simultaneously. If two of any other combination are selected, the laser beam will be
emitted only on the branch having the lowest branch shutter number. For example, if Branch
Nos. 2 and 3 are turned on, the laser beam will be output only to Laser Beam Input Unit No. 2.

Emitting the Laser Beam

With the required branch or branches selected, laser welding can be started. You can control
laser output from the control pendant or from external input signals as follows:
Control Pendant (local control): Press the LASER START/STOP key.
External Signals (remote control: Refer to Chapter 3 to identify the required control
changeover, schedule selection, and start signals.
