Laser Oscillator Head (continued)
Branch Mirror: Branch mirrors 1 through 4 split the laser beam into four branches and
reflect the beams toward their respective laser beam input units. The number of branch
mirrors can very from 1 to 4 optionally. They are numbered from 1 to 4, from the front
to the back of the laser.
Time Share Shutter: The two time share shutters direct the laser beam into selected
laser beam input units and fiber optic cables.
Beam Attenuator: This unit, attached to each laser beam input unit, attenuates the laser
beam output. When the laser beam is split, the output of each branch laser beam can be
adjusted with its bean attenuator to balance all laser outputs within a narrow range of
power.
Branch Unit Cover Plate: Refer to
Figure 2-8. This panel, on the side of
the laser oscillator head, blocks laser
beams reflected from the optical
fibers and optics. If this plate is
removed, the HIGH VOLTAGE
indicator on the status panel does not
light and the laser cannot be used.
CAUTION: Remove this plate only
when the laser beam needs to be
adjusted.
Resonator Mirror, Front and Rear:
The light pumped into the laser
chamber is amplified between the two resonator mirrors.
Main Resonator Shutter, Front and Rear: When these shutters are closed, the laser
beam is not output even if the flash lamp is turned on.
Laser Cavity: The laser cavity contains the flash lamp and YAG rod.
Fiber Scope Holder: This device attaches the fiber scope to the laser oscillator head. It
is installed only when the laser beam needs to be viewed for optical alignment.
Power Monitor Unit: This unit detects and measures the power output from the laser
beam.
