Appendix E: Setting Up ISDN Switches

Your ISDN switches should automatically be set up by your software. If
they aren't, then you will need to follow the instructions below to
manually change them. This procedure is only necessary the first time
you setup your ISDN line, or if you change your ISDN service.
How to Set Up Switches
In order to set up ISDN switches you need several numbers from your
phone company:
1.
Two Directory numbers: DN1 and DN2. (These are your ISDN
phone numbers.)
2.
Two Service Profile Identification numbers: SPID1 and SPID2.
3.
Switch type for each switch. The Switch type determines what
standards to use, or how to communicate, with each different
type of switch, such as National ISDN 1 or Northern Telecom
DMS100.
Use these numbers in the AT commands when first connecting to an
ISDN line to set your switch parameters. This is done in terminal mode.
Note:
Please follow these conventions when typing in these com-
mands.
Type the quotation marks (") shown.
Type the numbers indicated within brackets []. Do not type the brackets
[] themselves.
For example:
If the phone company assigned your SPID2 as 0555200001, to enter this
you would type:
AT!C6="0555200001"
Follow this format for DN and switch types.
Using National ISDN 1 Switches
Note:
Refer to the ISDN Service Installation Flyer for your switch
type.
