Isdn Line Connections - Zoom ISDN TA Owner's Manual

Your TA may not be configured to automatically answer incoming
calls. If you want your communications software to answer calls,
be sure you have selected this option in your software.
You encounter other communications problems with your ISDN
TA.
•
Check that your communications software has been set up prop-
erly. Recheck the initialization string and dial string specified in
your software manual. Remember that commands in the initializa-
tion string are sent to the TA each time you start your software and
override the settings stored in the TA's nonvolatile memory.

ISDN Line Connections

Calls will not complete.
•
Make sure the ISDN line is plugged into both the ISDN jack on
the ISDN TA and in the wall. Make sure you haven't accidentally
swapped the ISDN line with a standard phone line. Remove and
reseat the ISDN line at both ends. Make sure the plugs click into
place.

Try different types of ISDN calls to different numbers. Try using
the handset, sending faxes, making a data connection using the TA
over ISDN, and making ISDN data connections.
The ISDN TA will not make calls.

There may be a problem with the settings of your Directory Num-
bers (DN) or Service Profile Identifiers (SPIDs), or both. Double-
check that you have entered the DNs and SPIDs correctly, and that
the entries for DN1 and DN2 correspond to the entries for SPID1
and SPID2. Refer to Calls will not connect below.
The ISDN TA will not receive calls.

Check that you have given out the correct DN for handset calls (by
default this is DN2). Check that the DN call type assignment (!C4
or !C5) for the DN you have designated for handset calls is config-
ured for voice or data and voice (default is !C5=1 to configure
DN2 to accept voice calls). If possible, try to call the ISDN TA
from a nearby telephone on a standard phone line to confirm it is
now correctly configured.

Can you receive handset calls, but not data calls? Make sure that
the DN call type assignment (!C4 or !C5) for the DN you have
