Chapter 3
If you received communications or online service software with your
ISDN TA, please turn to the Quick Start booklet and/or software docu-
mentation now. For other software, this chapter provides tips for setup
of the ISDN TA over an ISDN line.
General Tips for Setting Up Communication
Software
Communication software programs have user-friendly interfaces to
make it easy to use the ISDN TA. Many programs identify the product
automatically and configure themselves for the correct settings. Other
programs require some user configuration.
Other programs require some user configuration. In these instances it
may be necessary for you to use "AT commands" to change some con-
figurations. In these cases, the instructions will attempt to give you the
specific commands required and advise you on how to use them. A
listing and discussion of AT commands and S registers, along with
many other modem topics, can be found at the following World Wide
http://www.modems.com
Web site:
Please see the instructions included with your software for information
about how to install and use the software.
Tips for Selecting Setup Options
In setting up your software, you may need to address the following is-
sues:
•
If you are asked to select the "modem type" from a menu, and you
don't see the ISDN TA listed by name on the menu, select the
closest name you can find (for example, ISDN TA Internal).
The more specific the type you choose, the more likely that the
software will let you use all of the ISDN TA's advanced features.
•
Modem port speed should be set to 115,200 bps (115.2K). The
ISDN TA can support even higher speeds through the use of the
%Bn command. The application setting of 115.2 Kbps will be
overridden in these cases.
