2.1 Safety instructions

Prior to maintenance works

Place the machine on secure ground. If necessary, move the
n
machine back from the edge of the excavation site.
Sink cut loads into the ground and/or set the opened work tool
n
on the ground.
Insert and secure the outriggers.
n
Turn off the machine and secure it against unauthorized
n
restart.
In addition, use chocks to safeguard the machine from rolling
n
off.
Place a warning sign on the controls.
n
When performing maintenance work outdoors, observe the
n
effects of the weather.
Never performing any maintenance work during a thunder-
storm.
Only perform work while standing on secure ground.
n
Only use stable ladders, work platforms or landings.
n
Always wear the required PPE.
n
Only perform service steps listed in these instructions.
n
Smoking and handling of open flame are prohibited. There is a
n
risk of the presence of flammable gases or vapors, particularly
in the engine room, and therefore risk of fire.
Maintain a safe distance from rotating and moving parts. Loose
n
clothing could become caught in moving parts and pose a
danger to the affected person.
Only use oils and lubricants shown in the list of operating
n
fluids.
Use only original GROVE spare parts.
n
Do not use machine parts as climbing aids if they are not
n
intended for this purpose.
Conduct a function check to ensure faultless operation.
n
Do not introduce operating fluids to the environment, and dis-
n
pose of used operating fluids in an environmentally-friendly
manner.
Only the crane owner or his representative may release the
n
machine following maintenance tasks.
