Test criteria
When rolling the wire

rope out and up, check
the rope mobility and
winding on the rope
drum.
Check the rope guide
n
components for mechan-
ical damage.
Check the rope drum for
n
traces of wear.
Check if rope protection
n
has been attached as per
the manufacturer's
instructions.
If necessary, untwist the
n
wire rope when rolling out
and up.
Check the wire rope for
n
wear and damage.
Check the wire rope for:
n
– malformations
– protruding wires
– main strand exten-
sions
– Corrosion
– broken or cut strands
– the effects of heat
– reduction of the rope
diameter during oper-
ating time

When using pouch sockets make sure

that, after the insertion of the rope end
connection, that the connection is
secured against slipping out.
Wire rope clamps are not permissible as

end fittings for running wire ropes and for
repeated loads.
