GPIB (General Purpose Interface Bus) is the common name for ANSI/IEEE Standard 488.2 1987,
an industry standard for interconnecting test instruments in a system. Everything you can do from
the front panel can also be done remotely, and in some cases, with more flexibility.
In remote operating mode, the 8033 offers all of the features accessible from the front panel.
Additional features are available only via GPIB such as the STEP command which increments or
decrements the optical power output by a user defined 'step' value. Five digits of resolution are
available via GPIB whereas only four digits are shown on the front panel.
The MPS−8033 with the optional model 1231 complies with the IEEE 488.2/1987 standard to the
extent shown in Table 3.1.
