move the bypass muff, to do this tilt pump
connection muff ④ away or remove the
pump if necessary. After removing the two

screwed off.
4.7 Function of the emergency closure
flap
The Ecolift can also be used as a pipe closu-
re valve (gate valve) by pressing the TEST but-
ton on the control unit. This will automatical-
ly close the motorized backwater flap but still
allow a building's wastewater to drain since it
will be pumped out by the Ecolift® 's integra-
ted sewage pump. This practice can be im-
plemented if a home or building will be vaca-
tion due to vacation for example. After the
building is re-occupied the flap must be im-
mediately reopened by again pressing the
TEST button on the control unit which will
open the motorized backwater flap. The flap
should not be opened if backwater currently
exists.
4.8 Servicing the ventilation connection
The ventilation connection and pipe (see re-
placement parts number 6) should be kept
clean and the activated charcoal filter (see Il-
lustration 18) should be changed on a yearly
basis or sooner if required.
After every pump malfunction, the ventilation
should be cleaned and checked.
The ventilation assembly (see ill. 17 – from
right to left) consists of a gasket,
housing,float, gasket, bayonet closure cap,
activated charcoal filter and the cover. The
housing / cover (see illustration 19) can be re-
moved by hand by tilting the housing side-
ways until it releases. Then turn the bayonet
closure (see illustration 20) and lift away the
housing 2. Remove the gasket and float and
clean. To re-assemble the ventilation assem-
bly, re-assemble in the opposite order.
