ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING
If something is wrong with the engine, see the following table for the cause and its corrective measure.
Trouble
Engine is difficult to start or will not start.
Insufficient engine power.
Engine stops suddenly.
Rough engine running.
Exhaust fumes are colored.
(Black, dark or gray)

Cause
•
The range shift lever not in the prop-
er position.
•
Key switch is not in the proper posi-
tion.
•
No fuel.
•
Improper or stale fuel. (Fuel quality
is poor.)
•
Water or dirt in the fuel system.
•
Fuel hose clogged or damaged.
•
Air cleaner is clogged.
•
Spark plug defective.
•
Fuse is blown.
•
Engine oil viscosity is wrong.
•
Battery becomes weak and the
engine does not turn over quick
enough.
•
Insufficient or dirty fuel.
•
Air cleaner is clogged.
•
Spark plug defective.
•
Insufficient fuel.
•
Spark plug defective.
•
High tension cord defective.
•
Ignition coil defective.
•
Fuel hose clogged or damaged.
•
Improper or stale fuel.

ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING
Countermeasure
•
Make sure the range shift lever is in "NEUTRAL"
position.
•
Make sure key switch is in "ON" position.
•
Replenish fuel.
•
Replace fuel and consult your KUBOTA Dealer.
•
Replace fuel and consult your KUBOTA Dealer.
•
Clean or replace fuel lines, and consult your KU-
BOTA Dealer.
•
Clean or replace the air cleaner element.
•
Adjust the spark plug gap or replace the spark
plug.
•
Check the spark plug wire connection.
•
Replace the fuse.
•
Use oils of different viscosities, depending on am-
bient temperature.
•
Clean battery cables and terminals.
•
Charge the battery.
•
In cold weather, always remove the battery from
the engine, charge and store it indoors. Install it on
the machine only when the machine is going to be
used.
•
Check the fuel system.
•
Clean or replace the air cleaner element.
•
Adjust the spark plug gap or replace it.
•
Refuel.
•
Adjust the spark plug gap or replace it.
•

•
