Hydraulic Fluid

Raise the boom and remove the front cover to access the
sight gauge (refer to Figure 5.7). Check the hydraulic fluid
level using the sight gauge. Add Dexron III if necessary.

Battery

Check the battery, case and the terminals. They should
be clean and free of corrosion. Inspect the cables and
wiring for wear and/or physical damage.

Chapter 5 – Pre-Operation Inspection
Warning
Lead-acid batteries produce flammable and potential-
ly explosive gases. To avoid death or serious injury
when checking, testing, or charging batteries:
• DO NOT use smoking materials near batteries.
• Keep arcs, sparks, and open flames away from
batteries.
• Provide ventilation for flammable vapors.
• Wear proper personal protective equipment, in-
cluding safety glasses.

Labels

Inspect all safety and operational labels. Make certain
they are in place, in good condition and are legible. They
may be cleaned with soap and water, and a soft cloth if
the words or pictures cannot be seen.
Caution
Solvents may contain hazardous ingredients. Follow
the manufacturer's label for proper use and dispos-
al. Wear protective gloves and splash-proof safety
glasses when using solvents.
Remove wet paint overspray using a natural biodegrad-
able solvent and a soft cloth. Replace any missing or
illegible labels before operating the machine.
