4.7.2.7 Configuring an HTTP Share

HTTP is a type of communication protocol widely used on the Internet. HTTP supports the
client/server mode, allowing you to share and transfer information easily and quickly. To
enable clients running HTTP-based browsers to access the shared contents on a server, you
must configure and enable the HTTP share feature on the server.

Step 1 Choose Tools > Internet Information Service(IIS) Manager from the menu bar of the
Server Manager.
Step 2 Right-click the local server and choose Add Website from the shortcut menu.

Step 4 In the Binding area, set parameters as follows:
Step 5 Start Website immediately is selected by default. Click OK.
Step 6 Enable the Directory Browsing function.

On a computer that serves as an FTP client, start an FTP tool. This section uses the
FileZilla as an example.
Type the IP address and port number of the shared server and the user name and
password used to log in to the shared server.
IP address: 97.100.100.121
User name: department1-user
Password: password of the user name
Port: 21
Press Enter to log in to the FTP server. Then, open Shared folder 1.
Check that you can upload files from a local folder to the FTP shared folder and
download files from the FTP shared folder to a local folder.
The hardware of the N2000 server has been installed and powered on.
You have logged in to Windows Storage Server 2012.
Set Site name to the shared domain name of a website, for example,
HTTP-department1.
In the Content Directory area, select the folder you want to share, for example, Shared
folder 1.
Type: Keep the default value http.
IP address: Set this parameter to the service IP address of the local server, for example,
97.100.100.121.
Port: Keep the default value 80.
Host name: You do not need to set this parameter.
