8.3 Collecting Fault Information

This topic describes how to collect fault information, including the Appliance status, logs, and
alarms, by observing indicators and using the iBMC WebUI.
Scenarios
To locate and rectify a fault, collect fault information, including the Appliance status, logs,
and alarms, by observing indicators and using the iBMC WebUI.
Prerequisites
Conditions
No special condition is required for this operation.
Data
Issue 04 (2018-11-06)
lists the information to be recorded before rectifying a fault.
Information
Disconnect all the peripheral devices, such as USB devices, that are not required during
troubleshooting.
Prepare tools and applications for troubleshooting, including the screwdriver,
electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap, and serial port or Secure Shell (SSH)
connection software (PuTTY).
To diagnose the Appliance offline, turn off the power to the Appliance and peripheral
devices. Follow the proper power-off procedure if possible:
a.
Exit all the programs.
b.
Log out of the operating system.
c.
Power off the Appliance.
d.
Remove the power cable from the chassis.
