5.1.1
Input source
The Input Source setting allows for the selection of Telephone recording or
Audio recording. For telephone recording from analog phone lines the Input
Source needs to be set to Line. For all other applications Audio needs to be
selected. When Audio is selected the Call Recorder records from the four or
eight audio connections at the back of the device.
The display will show:

•
Press CHANGE to toggle between Line and Audio.
• Press NEXT to move on to the next menu item or press the line
number to move to the Start method setting of the corresponding line.
5.1.2 Start Method
The Start method refers to the condition the Call Recorder uses to
determine how and when to start recording. When recording from a
telephone line the Off-Hook method should be used. The Call Recorder
detects when the connected telephone becomes Off-Hook and starts
recording. Following the Input Source setting as described above the display
will show:
Install Line 1
Start method:
NEXT
• Press CHANGE to select Line, Voice activated or Switch.
In the Voice activated mode the Call Recorder monitors the input source for
audio signal and recordings are started accordingly. After selecting Voice
activated pressing NEXT will open the Signal setting menu. See § 5.2 for a
detailed explanation of the signal settings. Voice activated recording is
predominantly used to record from other sources than the telephone like for
instance radio communication.
An other option is to start and stop recordings with a connected switch.
Some digital phones have a switch connection for this purpose. If Switch is
selected as start method the next item in the menu will be "Switch type". One
can choose between Make or Break indicating opening or closing the switch
to start a recording.
