Overview
This section provides the information needed to set up the 1+1 MSP (SDH)/1+1 APS
(SONET) test (see section
circuit packs will be used as example in the procedures below. However, all the other
optical circuit packs can also be used.
Safety
1675 LambdaUnite MSS systems operate with invisible laser radiation. Laser radiation
can cause considerable injuries to the eyes.
Never look into the end of an exposed fiber or into an open optical connector as long
as the optical source is switched on. Always observe the laser warning instructions (cf.
"Laser safety" (p.
Connecting the input ports of optical circuit packs with a transmit power exceeding the
maximum overload values (see chapter 1, section
(p.
1-14)) will cause the destruction of the detector diodes, as the input power is then
too high.
Where an overload has been detected replace the existing LBO by an appropriate one
(see appendix A, section
Electronic components can be destroyed by electrostatic discharge.
