SIMATIC memory card - overview

Introduction
The CPU uses a SIMATIC memory card as the program memory. The SIMATIC memory
card is a preformatted memory card compatible with the Windows file system. The memory
card is available in different memory sizes and can be used for the following purposes:
● Transportable data carrier
● Program card
● Firmware update card
● Service data card
A commercially available SD card reader is required to write/read the SIMATIC memory card
with the programming device/PC. This is used, for example, to copy files directly to the
SIMATIC memory card using the Windows Explorer.
The SIMATIC memory card is mandatory to operate the CPU.
