In order t o remove the pump from the engine
it i s
necessary t o unscrew the
t w o nuts that hold
it
in position, and after the removal of the rubber hose
connections i t can be withdrawn by giving it a gentle pull.
Care must be exercised,
however, in reinstating i t t o see that the gears mesh, before any pressure is put
on the pump in replacing
it.
Should any foreign matter find its way into the pump
the impeller w i l l rotate on the shaft.
I t is held in position by a small bolt.
The
slot in the shaft is larger than the diameter of the bolt t o allow for endwise
adjustment.
There are three small items which really only concern the Repair Shop.
They relate t o the removal o f the gear wheels from the crankshaft and the
front end housing o f the base chamber.
After the dynamo has been removed
it
is possible t o withdraw the w o r m wheel from the crankshaft
by tapping
it
w i t h a suitably soft tool, such as a piece o f brass, through the dynamo housing.
I t is a parallel
fit
on the crankshaft and is held in position by a key.

interest t o t h e user is t h e packing gland tightening nut.
T h e gland needs n o lubrication and should
o n l y be tightened sufficiently t o prevent leaks, should t h e y occur.
