General description of the M.G. Magnette Engine. In order that the
owner may become familiar w i t h all the details o f the power unit, illustrations have
been prepared showing the complete engine unit removed f r o m the chassis.

The sump drain plug can be seen, as well as the position of the dipstick.

indicate the various parts.
More detailed instruction will be subsequently given
concerning the items of magneto and dynamo.
The principal points o f interest
in this illustration are the location o f the oil filler and the sump.
The majority
o f the details shown in this illustration have already been covered in lllustration
No.
5,
but this particular illustration shows the sump o r o i l container o f the engine
and
i t s
drain plug, which consists o f a brass nut having a square plug hole.
A
special tool i s provided in the tool k i t for removing this drain plug.
It
w i l l be
seen in this illustration that there
i s
a return oil feed pipe from the front and
rear end o f the cylinder head.
The near-side of the engine, Illustration No.
23,
shows a good deal more than
can be seen when the engine is i n the chassis.
