The speedometer is driven f r o m t h e rear o f the gearbox immediately in f r o n t
o f the universal joint.
The latter is coupled t o t h e f r o n t end o f the propeller shaft
by means o f a splined telescopic joint, allowing for t h e rise and fall o f the rear axle
and t h e movement o f t h e rear springs.
Continuing t h e general survey o f t h e p o r t i o n o f the chassis which is entirely
covered by the body, reference should be made t o lllustration N o .

has been prepared t o cover t h e lubrication points more clearly,
as well as t h e petrol feed line in t h e off-side o f t h e frame.
lllustration No.

shows the gearbox attached in t h e frame by means o f a
tubular cross member which passes through t h e bell housing which unites the engine
t o t h e gearbox.
It
also shows t h e change speed lever and t h e remote control.
In order t o prevent any fumes f r o m the engine entering t h e driving compart-
ment o f t h e car, t h e flywheel housing is fitted w i t h a rubber r i n g which seals t h e
space between
it
and t h e metal covered dashboard.
In b o t h types o f gearbox
employed in this chassis, t h e filler orifice is situated on t h e near-side.
The adjustment for taking up wear o f the hand brake is effected by means o f
a t h u m b screw adjuster situated at t h e base o f t h e hand brake lever, clockwise
rotation being applied t o tighten the brake.
Extension body brackets are mounted
on t h e frame as shown.
The electric wires f r o m the battery are carried i n a metal
conduit situated underneath t h e frame on t h e near-side.
The propeller shaft is
normally entirely covered by a shaft tunnel, t h e forward mounting o f which is shown
in lllustration N o .

This shaft tunnel has a hole drilled in
it
through which t h e
small
oilgun is introduced t o lubricate t h e f r o n t universal joint.

The filler plug should be noted, and when this is used t h e
overflow plug must be unscrewed so as n o t t o overfill t h e gearbox.
Various o t h e r details o f t h e
chassis can be seen, viz. body mounting bracket, electrical w i r e conduits, t h e hand brake adjuster
and t h e bracket t o which t h e shaft tunnel is mounted.
