Operating conditions: Process

The permissible medium temperature depends on the sensor and the sealing material:
Sensor:
• DN 2 to 100 (1/12 to 4"): –20 to +150 °C (–4 to +302 °F)
Seals:
• EPDM: –20 to +150 °C (–4 to 302 °F)
• Viton: –20 to +150 °C (–4 to 302 °F)
• Silicone: –20 to +150 °C (–4 to 302 °F)
• Kalrez: –20 to +150 °C (–4 to 302 °F)
The minimum conductivity is:
• ≥ 5 μS/cm for fluids generally
• ≥ 20 μS/cm for demineralized water
Note!
In the remote version, the necessary minimum conductivity also depends on the cable length
(→ ä 17, Section "Length of connecting cable").
The permitted nominal pressure depends on the process connection and the seal:
• 40 bar (580 psi):
– flange EN 1092-1 (DIN 2501)
– weld socket for DIN EN ISO 1127 pipes and ODT (with O-ring seal)
• 16 bar (232 psi): all other process connections

The diameter of the pipe and the flow rate determine the nominal diameter of the sensor.
The optimum flow velocity is between 2 to 3 m/s (6.5 to 9.8 ft/s). The velocity of flow (v), moreover, has to
be matched to the physical properties of the fluid:
• v < 2 m/s (6.5 ft/s): for small conductivities
• v > 2 m/s (6.5 ft/s): for fluids causing build-up such as high-fat milk etc.
