Transport Cases and Accessories

Visually inspect the transport cases for damage.
Ensure that a bottle of the acoustic gel is transported with the Argus TubeSpec system.
Ensure that a calibration rod of the correct size is available with the unit.
Ensure the availability of a drain hose with the proper size of clamp.

Cleaning the Measuring Head

The TubeSpec scrapes all material from the tubing. Therefore, the device gets very dirty. The measur-
ing head can be pressure-washed with a gentle detergent degreaser. The sensors are solvent-resistant,
but use no solvents at high pressure.

Oiler Assembly Maintenance and Safety Practices

The oiler assembly is illustrated in the figure entitled Oiler Assembly.
Not easily viewable from the referenced figure is the precise location of the oiler body (in relation to
the top and bottom covers) when mounted on the tubing. The oiler body has a groove in the OD of the
plastic housing that fits into the larger semi-circle cutouts in the top and bottom covers. This groove
keeps the oiler assembly oriented in the correct direction and locks it in place.
Each oiler assembly is sized to accommodate the two sizes of tubing potentially used with a particular
measuring head (within the constraints described in Tubing Sizes for Argus TubeSpec Model Num-
bers).
The user adjusts the oiler assembly to conform to one of two possible tubing sizes specific to a measur-
ing head by switching part numbers 5 and 6 with part numbers 27 and 28.
Part numbers 3, 5, 6, 27, and 28 are all wear parts, so must be inspected after each job for serviceabil-
ity:
When the UHMW bearing (part numbers 6 and 28) is .25" over nominal tubing, it must be
replaced. Change the UHMW bearing by following the instructions in Step k. on page 42.
If the sponge (part number 3) is packed with debris, clean it before the next use.
To clean the sponge, knead it in warm water with a mild detergent. Rinse well and ensure that the sponge
is squeezed dry before re-inserting it in the oiler.
