Control Box
The controller requires 24 VDC to operate – this is provided through a four-pin Jupiter™ connector. A
separate seven-pin Jupiter connector is provided for the serial output. A second seven-pin Jupiter con-
nector is provided for the encoder, and two four-pin Jupiter connectors are provided for lube tank con-
trol and status (see Appendix A: Control-box Electrical Schematic).
To connect the measuring head to the control box, two sensor cables, each 50 feet in length, are affixed
to the box through cable glands. The connectors are color coded; the user ensures that the connectors
are plugged into the measuring head according to color.
The control box may be mounted outdoors, on the reel, in a Zone II hazardous location during the job.
It is recommended that the mounting area chosen be well-protected from impact, because damage to
the outside of the control box could mitigate its hazard rating.
It is an absolute requirement that the control box be disconnected from the measuring head before con-
ducting any welding on the CT unit. Damage to the system will result from non-compliance!

The TubeSpec Mounting System

The Argus Tube Spec has a cradle-type mount, which is bolted to tabs that are welded to the front of
the level wind.

To ascertain the correct center-line for the referenced tabs, mount the Argus TubeSpec with its bracket
and tabs assembled on the tubing (as in Diagram 2), and slide the Argus TubeSpec along the tubing to
its mounting position. Mark the position at which the tabs should be welded and remove the Argus
TubeSpec before welding the tabs in place (this procedure should be performed by a certified welder).
