2. Adjust the proximity probes.
a. Change the probes' position so that they are approximately 5.5mm, or .216", from the tubing.
To obtain the correct proximity-probe position for each tubing size, the measuring head must
be plugged into the control box, and a compatible PC (see System Requirements for additional
information) must display OrionNET software (see Using OrionNET Software for additional
information).
The goal is to manually adjust proximity probes A and B to read (in the OrionNET probe-data
view) "5,000 mV." See Using the TubeSpec Probe-data View for additional information.
b. Loosen the clamping bracket from the proximity probe using a 5/32" Allen wrench.
c. When the socket head-screw is loose, the user should be able to manually adjust the sensor by
hand-turning the large sensor nut. A spring on the back side of the clamping bracket may make
turning the nut difficult if the sensor is extended close to the end of its range. If this is the case,
it may be necessary to use a spanner wrench to adjust the sensor.
d. After the adjustment is made, tighten the socket head-screw and then use the spanner wrench
to back-tighten the large sensor nut slightly to keep the nut from vibrating off and making con-
tact with the tubing.
e. When both probes are adjusted, perform a proximity-offset calibration (see Calibrating the
TubeSpec for information concerning calibration using the proximity-offset method).
