Chapter 5: Mounting the TubeSpec on Coiled Tubing
General Information
The Argus TubeSpec measuring head opens in a "clamshell" style for ease of installation on the tubing.
Measurements may be obtained with no oil on the tubing while the tubing is not moving; however, to
reduce drag, Mopar 460 or Omala 460 oil is required when running in and out of the hole.
Items Required for Mounting
The following items are required for mounting:

Packer element (2)
•
Measuring head
•
Mounting cradle (see Mounting Bracket)
•
Omala 460 oil
•
Left and right weld plate tabs (see Mounting Bracket)
•
Top cover (see Oiler Assembly)
•
Bottom cover (see Oiler Assembly)
•
Oiler housing (2) (one housing per Oiler Assembly)
•
Acoustic gel
Tools Required for Mounting
•
5/16" Allen wrench
•
5/8" standard wrench
•
3/4" standard wrench
•
9/16" wrench (2)
•
Rubber mallet
The Mounting Process
To mount the TubeSpec on coiled tubing
1. Acquire the items and tools listed in Items Required for Mounting and Tools Required for Mounting
and stage them in an area adjacent to the level wind.
2. If the mounting cradle is not already mounted, complete this activity. Two shoulder bolts attach the
mounting cradle to the level wind.
3. In the mounting-cradle area, and approximately 18" in front of the mounting cradle (injector side), coat
the tubing with Omala 460 oil.
