Aquarea Heat Pump Manager (HPM)
The Aquarea Heat Pump Manager from Panasonic (short: HPM) is a controller for heating
and hot water applications. It is offered by Panasonic as an accessory to control Aquarea heat
pumps in heating systems with or without additional heat source, domestic hot water tanks and/
or solar heat systems.
Fields of application of the HPM
The HPM can be used to control heating systems with the following components:
● Heating system with a heat pump as heat source
● Heating systems with a heat pump in combination with a conventional heat
source (bivalent system)
● Heating systems with two or three heat pumps (cascade system)
● All previously mentioned heating systems in combination with a domestic hot
water tank and/or a solar system as well as additional heat source for domestic
hot water tank or buffer tank.
HPM control types
The AQUAREA heat pumps can be controlled by the HPM "via communication" or "via contact
release".
"Via contact release" means that the heat pump can only be switched on or off from the HPM,
while other settings are done via the control panel, which is part of the scope of delivery.
In this case, the domestic hot water tank and/or solar system are not controlled directly via the
HPM controller, but via the heat pump.
"Via communication" means that all settings of the heat pump are done on the HPM. The
correct adapter cable for the communication with the respective heat pump is connected to the
BUS interface of the controller.

There are two different HPM models:
● HPM1: with controls (display and buttons)
● HPM2: without controls
