Requirements for Actuators for Failsafety Digital Output Modules
In RUN, the S5-95F tests the digital output modules once every hour. To do so, it disables the
outputs for a brief period of time, the length of which is different for onboard I/Os than for external
I/Os (blanking time).

High-speed actuators (such as quick-acting valves) may drop out during the test. If your process
cannot tolerate this, choose one of the following three options:
Use actuators with sufficient lag
Call the DQ test in DB252 at least once an hour at a non-critical instant
Wire the actuators to diodes and/or RC networks
Using Actuators with Sufficient Lag
The table below lists a selection of pre-tested coupling relays which do not drop off during the DQ
test.
