Chapter 2. CPU Features & Specifications
Battery Removal Method 1
1. Power down the rack and remove the CPU from the backplane.
2. Using a curved probe with a non-conducting surface, for example a non-metallic dental pick,
reach in from the back of the module and pull the battery out of its retaining clip. (You can use
needle-nose pliers to grasp the battery and pull it the rest of the way out.)

Battery Removal Method 2
1. Power down the rack and remove the CPU from the backplane.
2. Squeeze both sides of the module and remove the front section of the plastic housing.
3. Lift the two clips on the side of the plastic housing to release the circuit board and pull the board
out of the housing.
4. Pull the battery out of its retaining clip.
Installing a New RTC Battery
Install the battery with the positive (+) side up. That is, with the + side away from the board and toward
the housing plastic.
