7.6 ControlA Font

ControlA font is a special font that allows you to run printer commands assigned to characters
in advance from a document. For the printer commands, refer to the technical reference.
You should register printer commands to run in [Printing Preferences] before using the
ControlA font. You can register any printer commands to characters from 0x20 to 0x7f in the
printer driver. For the registration method, see "3.5.7 Displaying [ControlA Font Settings]
Window".

7.6.1 Selecting Type of ControlA Font

There is the following type of ControlA font.

7.6.2 Using ControlA Font

To use the ControlA font, you can use it from a general application or by making a program.
This section describes the method to print the ControlA font by using a general application
(Microsoft® WordPad). (Microsoft® WordPad can print the ControlA font only in Windows XP
and Vista. Windows 7 does not support the function.)
1. Change the ControlA font setting to use in "3.5.7 Displaying [ControlA Font Settings]
Window".
2. Select the ControlA font from the application ("IPD ControlA").
3. Select the font size ("8.5") and character set (font script) ("Western").
4. Enter characters assigned for the ControlA font.
