Perform an analog loop test

During a loop test, the transmitter outputs a fixed value (4 mA, 20 mA, or user-selected
value). The loop test command verifies the output of the transmitter, the integrity of the
loop, and the operations of any recorders or similar devices installed in the loop. A loop
test can also be used to determine the need for an analog output calibration (see
Section
If the transmitter is equipped with a TEST terminal, current can be measured directly at the
terminal block without disconnecting any signal wires. See

Select Service Tools Echo Tuning Suppress. Suppressed echoes are shown in the
table.
Select Suppress or Remove Suppression.
Type the distance to the echo that should be added to or removed from the list, and
then select Next.
Select Finish when the Method Complete message appears.
Select Service Tools > Echo Tuning > Suppress.
To view the current suppressed echoes, select Suppressed Echoes.
Select Suppress or Remove Suppression.
Type the distance to the echo that should be added to or removed from the list, and
then select Enter.

Select Loop Test.
Select 4 mA, 20 mA, or Other.
If Other is selected, enter the desired value.
Select Start.
Measure the loop current.
Select Stop to end loop test.
