9 APPLICATION OF SETTINGS 9.1SETTING EXAMPLE
a) OVERVIEW
This chapter provides an example of the settings required for the example system configurations:
In-zone transformer with VT on the high-voltage (HV) side.
In-zone transformer with VT on the low-voltage (LV) side.
With no in-zone transformer.
These configurations are described in the following sub-sections.
b) IN-ZONE TRANSFORMER WITH VT ON THE HV SIDE
Consider the generator protection system shown below, with an in-zone transformer with VT on the high-voltage (HV) side:

The two sources are configured as follows:
The GSU is lagging by –30° (from the line side to the generator side). Take note of the CT polarities in wiring diagram.
These are necessary to correctly meter forward power. Loss of excitation and reverse power will be assigned to source 2.
