ADJUSTING THE ENGINE IDLING SPEED
NOTE:
Prior to adjusting the engine idling speed, the air
filter element should be clean, and the engine
should have adequate compression.
1. Remove:
9front cowling (right)
Refer to "REMOVING THE FRONT COWL-
INGS".
2. Start the engine and let it warm up for sev-
eral minutes.
3. Connect:
9engine tachometer
(onto the spark plug lead)
Engine tachometer

4. Check:
9engine idling speed
Out of specification → Adjust.
Engine idling speed
1,400 – 1,600 r/min
5. Adjust:
9engine idling speed
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
a. Turn the pilot air screw 1 in or out until it is
lightly seated.
b. Turn the pilot air screw out the specified
number of turns.
Pilot air screw setting
1–1/8 turns out
c. Turn the throttle stop screw 2 in direction
a or b until the specified engine idling
speed is obtained.
