TROUBLESHOOTING

9 9 Any of the following fail to light: turn sig-
nal light, brake light or an indicator light.
9 9 The horn fails to sound.
Check:
1. fuse
2. battery
3. main switch
4. wiring connections
(of the entire signaling system)
NOTE:
9Before troubleshooting, remove the following
part(s):
1. front cowling
2. front panel
3. rear cowlings
4. headlight assembly
9Troubleshoot with the following special tool(s).

1. Fuse
9Check the fuse for continuity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE FUSE" in chapter
3.
9Is the fuse OK?
YES
NO
Replace the fuse.
SIGNALING SYSTEM

2. Battery
9Check the condition of the battery.
Refer to "CHECKING AND CHARGING THE
BATTERY" in chapter 3.
Minimum open-circuit voltage
12.8 V or more at 20 °C (68 °F)
9Is the battery OK?
YES

3. Main switch
9Check the main switch for continuity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE SWITCHES".
9Is the main switch OK?
YES

4. Wiring
9Check the entire signaling system wiring.
Refer to "CIRCUIT DIAGRAM".
9Is the signaling system wiring properly con-
nected and without defects?
YES
Check the condi-
tion of each of the
signaling
system
circuits.
Refer to "CHECK-
ING THE SIGNAL-
ING SYSTEM".

9Clean the battery
terminals.
9Recharge or
replace the
battery.

Replace the main
switch.
NO
Properly connect or
repair the signaling
system wiring.
