5. Remove:
9rear shock absorber bolt (left and right) 1
9washer
9rear shock absorber nut (left and right) 2
9washers
9rear shock absorber assembly (left and
right) 3
6. Measure:
9swingarm side play
9swingarm vertical movement
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
a. Measure the tightening torque of the
swingarm pivot shaft nut.
Pivot shaft nut
51 Nm (5.1 m·kg, 37 ft·lb)
b. Measure the swingarm side play å by mov-
ing the swingarm from side to side.
c. If the swingarm side play is out of specifica-
tion, check the spacers and bearings.
Swingarm side play (at the end of
the swingarm)
1 mm (0.04 in)
d. Check the swingarm vertical movement ∫
by moving the swingarm up and down.
If swingarm vertical movement is not smooth
or if there is binding, check the washer and
bushings.
