Connect the digital optical cable.

Connect 6 speakers to an AV amplifier
equipped with a decoder.
For the speaker placement, refer to the
operating instructions supplied with the
connected amplifier.

Switch the output to 5.1 channel Dolby
Digital sound or 5.1 channel DTS
sound.

Tip
You cannot use the virtual surround effect of this
system.
Recording between this
system and optional
components
Making a digital recording
from a digital component
The Serial Copy Management System (page 95)
may prevent you from making a digital
recording of certain material. In this case,
connect the component to TAPE IN jacks and
make an analog recording.
In addition, you cannot make a digital recording
of sound encoded by other than PCM mode. Set
optional digital components to PCM output*.
* The digital input is available for PCM 32kHz, 44.1
kHz and 48kHz.

Note
When Smart Space/Auto Cut is set to on, the recording
pauses if no sound continues for 30 seconds or more
(page 45).

an MD (page 46).
