• The supplied FM lead antenna receives signals
along its entire length, so make sure you extend it
fully.
• Locate the antennas as far away from the speaker
cords as possible.
• Consult your nearest Sony dealer if the supplied
AM antenna has come off the plastic stand.
• Try turning off surrounding electrical equipment.
A stereo FM program cannot be received in
stereo.
• Press FM MODE until "MONO" disappears.
Cyclical static noise is heard while recording
on an MD.
• Adjust the antenna orientation and position until
the noise stops.
Personal computer
The sound is broken or the system becomes
unstable.
• Connect the USB cable directly from the system
to the USB terminal of your computer.
"Windows cannot locate the driver" appears.
• Install the device driver.
M-crew or SonicStage for Sony Net MDs does
not start up.
• The software may not operate properly depending
on the USB host controller installed in your
computer. The pertinent USB host controller as of
October 2003 is the SiS7001 PCI to USB Open
Host Controller.
Optional components
There is no sound.
• Refer to General item "There is no sound."
(page 83) and check the condition of the system.
• Connect the component properly (page 79) while
checking:
– if the cords are connected properly.
– if the cord plugs are firmly inserted all the way.
• Turn on the connected component.
• Refer to the operating instructions supplied with
the connected component and start playing.
• Check if proper function is selected. Press
FUNCTION repeatedly until "TAPE" or
"OPTICAL IN" appears.
The sound is distorted.
• Set the volume of the connected component
lower.
There is no sound from the MD player.
• Perform playback with an MD player that
supports MDLP recording.
• Set the recording mode to stereo recording at
normal speed or monaural recording, and perform
recording again.
If the system still does not
operate properly after performing
the above measures, reset the
system as follows:

Disconnect the mains lead.

Reconnect the mains lead.

Press ?/1 (power) to turn on the system.
4
Press ?/1 (power), DISPLAY and ENTER/
START on the unit at the same time.
The system is reset to the factory settings except
for DVD settings. You should set the settings
you made, such as the preset stations, clock, and
timer.
To return the DVD setup to the
default settings*, perform reset
as follows:

Press DVD SETUP while the DVD function
is in stop mode.

Press V or v repeatedly to select "RESET",
then press ENTER/YES.

Press V or v repeatedly to select "YES",
then press ENTER/YES.
It takes a few seconds to complete. Do not
press ?/1 when resetting the system.
