current LIMITS. The amplitude and position can therefore only be changed
within the given limits.
If the magnet current position is outside the center of the sweep area, the position is moved
to the center when trying to set the amplitude exceeding the limits. The maximum permiss­
ible amplitude for x and y-magnet current deflection can be set in this way.

Menu operation

7.8.1 General operation
The menu functions are switched on and off with the button
Menu/Quit. The button lights up when

7.8.1.1 Menu control - Left Joystick
The active menu point is displayed inversely. The movement of the Joystick
to the direction in the menu structure: One moves to menu points up or down in the menu
structure by moving the joystick up or down. If there is no upper menu point available in the
selected level, a press of the joystick up also moves the user to the next higher menu point,
which is shown at the top left edge of the menu section.
The character ⇨ shown with an inversely displayed menu point indicates that there is a sub
menu to this point, which is then selected by pressing the Joystick L to the right. Pressing
the Joystick L to the left moves the user to the next higher menu. The characters ⇧ and ⇩
in the LCD display indicate that there are further menu points in the selected level that are
not being displayed. To return directly to the main screen simply press the button
Menu/Quit.
7.8.1.2 Jump function
The button Menu/Quit
menu point activated. For this the button must be pressed for longer than one second. This
enables quick changing between the main screen and widely branched menu points.
7.8.1.3 Menu control - right Joystick
The right Joystick R is used to change the data assigned to the active menu point. The func­
tion of the Joystick is displayed in the lower status line.
Pressing the Joystick up increases the shown value, pressing
the Joystick down decreases the shown value. For the para­
meters (position, amplitude, frequency, waveform and lim­
its) of the magnet this assignment is for the x-values only.
The y- values are changed by pressing the Joystick to the
right (increase of the values) of by pressing the Joystick to
the left (decrease of the values). The Joystick function is
indicated by the symbol ⇔ for the y-value changes and by
the symbol ⇕ for the x–value changes. The step width of the
changes of the values is stored in the Menu
and can be changed there.
