Configuring FTP Server Parameters

After you enable the FTP server on the system, you can configure different parameters.
To specify the system logging settings, use the following commands.
Specify the directory for users using FTP to reach the system.
CONFIGURATION mode
ftp-server topdir dir
The default is the internal flash directory.
Specify a user name for all FTP users and configure either a plain text or encrypted password.
CONFIGURATION mode
ftp-server username username password [encryption-type] password
Configure the following optional and required parameters:
username: enter a text string.
encryption-type: enter 0 for plain text or 7 for encrypted text.
password: enter a text string.
NOTE:
You cannot use the change directory (cd) command until you have configured ftp-server topdir.
To view the FTP configuration, use the show running-config ftp command in EXEC privilege mode.

Configuring FTP Client Parameters

To configure FTP client parameters, use the following commands.
Enter the following keywords and the interface information:
For a 10-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword TenGigabitEthernet then the stack/slot/port/subport information.
For a 25-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword twentyFiveGigE then the stack/slot/port/subport information.
For a 40-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword fortyGigE then the stack/slot/port[/subport] information.
For a 50-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword fiftyGigE then the stack/slot/port/subport information.
For a 100-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword hundredGigE then the stack/slot/port information.
For a Loopback interface, enter the keyword loopback then a number from 0 to 16383.
For a port channel interface, enter the keywords port-channel then a number.
For a VLAN interface, enter the keyword vlan then a number from 1 to 4094.
