Programmability is supported only on the Catalyst 4500-X Series Switches and the Catalyst 4500-E
Series Switches with Supervisor Engine 8-E, 8L-E. The feature is supported on all available license
levels for these switches. This chapter describes how to set-up and configure the feature. It includes the

Overview
Programmability is the capability to configure and manage networking devices using protocols that are
specifically designed to be consumed by software, that is, machine to machine interfaces.
The traditional way of configuring and managing Cisco networking devices, has been manual
