Identifying the User
[User Management]
"Authentication" means to identify the user of this
machine by using the PIN code, etc., that is
assigned to each user.
User identification enables individual user manage-
ment and enhanced security.
It is necessary to set the following items in order to
enable the authentication function.

• [Recognized by]

• [Management Level]
• [Create User]
BThe authentication function is disabled by
default at the time of factory shipment as
follows:
CAny user can use this machine.
CAny user can change [Admin.].
■ Authentication function
The authentication function is basically divided into
"Machine authentication" and "ID print".
Machine authentication
Before using this machine, it is necessary to perform
the authentication operation (entry of PIN code, inser-
tion of USB flash drive for authentication, or holding of
IC card over reader).
Performing the authentication operation can limit the
use of this machine to only the registered users.
It can also limit the operation of [Admin.] to only the
administrator.
It also enables the following functions:
• [My Direct Access] (A 89)
• [My Counter] for [IInfo] (A
• [ID Counter Report] (A 91)
• [ID Print] in the scan mode
• [ID Print Job] for [Storage] or [USB Job List]

The administrator can access the authentication data of
any user.

Chapter 7 Setting the Operation Conditions
ID print
If a user sets [ID print] for the printer driver, it is neces-
sary to perform the authentication operation (entry of
PIN code, insertion of USB flash drive for authentica-
tion, or holding of IC card over reader) before perform-
ing operations for the original data on this machine.
Performing the authentication operation can limit the
access to the original data to only the person who has
set [ID print].

The administrator can access the authentication data of
any user.
[Recognized by]
Select one of the following methods that is to be used
for identifying the user.
• PIN Code
• USB Flash Drive
• IC Card (when the optional IC Card Reader is
installed)
BBe sure to select the above setting first.
If you change [Recognized by], all of the
user identification settings are erased
including the settings for [Create User].
