update file file-url: Upgrades Boot ROM, where file-url is a string of 1 to 63 characters and represents
name of the file to be upgraded.
slot slot-number-list: Specifies a list of slot numbers of cards, in the format of { slot-number [ to
slot-number ] }&<1-7>. The slot-number argument represents the slot number of a card to be upgraded.
&<1-7> indicates that you can specify up to seven lists of slot numbers. (In standalone mode)
chassis chassis-number: Specifies the member ID of the IRF member switch to be upgraded. If you do not
provide this argument, all the member switches of the current IRF fabric are specified. (In IRF mode)
slot slot-number-list: Specifies a list of slot numbers of cards, in the format of { slot-number [ to
slot-number ] }&<1-7>. The slot-number argument represents the slot number of a card to be upgraded.
&<1-7> indicates that you can specify up to seven lists of slot numbers. (In IRF mode)
all: Operates all contents of Boot ROM. All contents of Boot ROM are operated if the all and part
keywords are not specified.
part: Operates only the extension part of Boot ROM (Boot ROM includes the basic part and the
extension part, the basic part provides the basic operation items and the extension part provides more
Boot ROM operation items). All contents of Boot ROM are operated if the all and part keywords are not
specified.
Description
In standalone mode
1.
Use the bootrom command to read, restore, back up, or upgrade Boot ROM on a specified card.
To upgrade Boot ROM for an MPU, first save the corresponding Boot ROM image under the root
directory of the storage media on the MPU.
To upgrade Boot ROM for a line processing unit (LPU), first save the Boot ROM image under the root
directory of the storage media on the active MPU.
When you upgrade Boot ROM for the active MPU, or an LPU, the file-url argument cannot contain
a slot number.
When you upgrade Boot ROM for the standby MPU, the file-url argument must contain the slot
number (such as slot1#flash:/test.btw).
The names of the Boot ROM images on the cards may be different, but the versions of the images
must be compatible (for information about version compatible, see the release notes of the Boot
ROM image). Otherwise, the device may not boot normally.
In IRF mode

Use the bootrom command to read, restore, back up, or upgrade Boot ROM on a card of the specified
IRF member switch.
To upgrade Boot ROM for an MPU, first save the corresponding Boot ROM image under the root
directory of the storage media on the MPU.
To upgrade Boot ROM for an LPU, first save the Boot ROM image under the root directory of the
storage media on the active MPU of the member switch that holds the LPU.
When you upgrade Boot ROM for the global active MPU, or an LPU on the master, the file-url
argument cannot contain a member ID or a slot ID.
When you upgrade Boot ROM for other MPUs of the IRF fabric, the file-url argument must contain
the slot number of the MPU and the member ID of the device where the MPU resides, such as
chassis3#slot1#flash:/test.btw.
