Roof carrier

WARNING
When a load is transported on the roof, the
vehicle's centre of gravity rises and the han-
dling changes. If you exceed the maximum
roof load, the handling as well as steering and
braking characteristics are severely affected.
There is a risk of an accident.
Always observe the maximum roof load and
adapt your driving style.
You can find information about the maximum
roof load in the "Technical data" section

Make sure that:
the screws for the roof carrier are tightened
R
to a torque of 8 – 10 Nm in the sliding
blocks provided.
the bolts do not make contact with the rails
R
when tightened.
the sliding blocks are not positioned near
R
the plastic caps.
the sliding blocks have the correct cross-
R
section.
the securing rails are free of dirt on the
R
inside.
the screws are retightened evenly after
R
approximately 500 km.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you only
use roof carrier systems which have been tes-
ted and approved for Mercedes-Benz. This will
help avoid damage to the vehicle.

If you wish to retrofit securing rails, have
them fitted at a qualified specialist workshop.
You could otherwise damage the vehicle.
Securing rails

It is possible to fit a roof carrier if your vehicle is
equipped with securing rails on the roof. Special
mountings (sliding blocks) are available as
accessories.
These are available from any Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre.
