3.1.2 Problems related to printing (part 001/2)

1 The POWER lamp
goes off during
printing.
Then, turn the power
switch OFF, and turn
on the power after 10
to 20 seconds.
However, the POWER
lamp does not go on.
2 [LED type]
The PAPER OUT lamp
starts blinking.
[LCD type]
Error message blinks.
3 2pass printing is
performed.
Symptom
+40 V over voltage alarm
APTC Gap Alarm is detected
[LED type]
Also AUTO GAP and
TRACTOR F lamps blink.
[LCD type]
LCD displays as follows
FATAL!
APTC GAP ALARM
Cause
The power supply is
faulty.( The power
supply is a high
voltage.)
The paper to be
Printed on is too thick.
Difference thickness
of the paper.
Card guide adjustment
is incorrect
APTC sensor is
defective
• Power overload is
detected (if more
than one character of
the solid pattern is
printed).
• Print head overheat
is detected (if print
patterns of rather
higher density of
characters are printed
continuously.
• The control board is
defective.
• The power supply is
defective.
• The print head is
defective.

Response
Replace the power
supply unit.
Replace the paper.
(Use paper of a
thickness specified in
the paper specification.)
Replace the paper or use
manual mode properly.
Adjust card guide
correctly.
• The print head
protection function
works normally.
Change the print
pattern.
• The print head
protection function
works normally.
Change the print
pattern or stop the
printer for a while.
• Replace the control
board.
• Replace the power
supply.
• Replace the print head.
