1.) Ensure the pilot flame is fully engulfing the flame rod sensor and that it does
not shrink away when the main burner lights. If pilot shrinks when main
burner fires ensure minimum inlet fuel pressure is available to valve. See step
4. Did the pilot light.
2.) Confirm flame rod sensor is connected to the IFC X3 terminal. Diagram 5
3.) Check ground connections. Ensure ground wire from IFC wire harness X5 to
valve body is connected. Diagram 5a.
4.) Ensure flame rod sensor and pilot hood are clean. Use only scotch-bright pad
or steel wool to clean sensor. Test, if no change move to next step.
5.) Test flame rod sensor for continuity; Set meter to resistance in the lowest
range available, disconnect flame rod sensor from IFC X3 terminal, place one
probe on the pilot end and the other probe on the IFC (female) end. Diagram
8. If open circuit or infinite resistance replace flame rod sensor, if good see
page 14 for further causes of flame sense problems.
1.) Confirm that power is available to the IFC Diagram 1 & 3
2.) Ensure green wire is attached to EV2 terminal on valve.
3.) Test incoming gas pressure. Use manometer to verify that minimum incoming
fuel pressure as marked on the rating plate is available. If fuel pressure is
available check pilot orifice and pilot hood for blockage or obstruction.
Otherwise move to next step.
4.) Test valve EV2 solenoid; set meter to ohms in range of 1k ohms or greater.
Disconnect Orange wire from EV2 terminal. Place one probe on the EV2
terminal and the other probe to the valve body. Reading should be 340 ohms
(+/- 20 ohms) If infinite resistance or open circuit replace valve. If test is OK
move to next step. Diagram 9.
5.) Test IFC output to valve EV2; set meter to DCV in a range of 10DCV or greater.
With all wire connected to the valve place one probe to the EV2 terminal,
place the other probe to the valve body and turn the unit on. On call for heat
the IFC will send a pulse of 4-6 DCV for approximately 2 seconds, then drops
to between 1 - .5DCV. Diagram 10. If no voltage ensure the IFC has required
power available. Diagram 1.
