Starting and Operating Instructions
Wait for the indicator light to stay
on solid before shifting your trans-
mission into gear.
There may be a slight engagement
noise or bump when shifting. This
is normal.
If you try to shift into or out of the
Four-Wheel Low Lock setting
when the vehicle is in gear and/or
moving, the indicator light will
flash for 15 seconds and not
complete the shift.

Shifting the Transfer Case Into
or Out of Neutral
To shift the transfer case into N
(Neutral):
1. Park the vehicle so that it will
not roll and set the parking
brake.
2. Turn the ignition key to
START.
3. Place the transmission in N
(Neutral).
If your vehicle is equipped with
a manual transmission, push
the clutch pedal all the way to
the floor and hold it there until
you have completed the last
step of this procedure.
CAUTION
With the transfer case in N
(Neutral), the vehicle can roll
even if the transmission is in P
(Park). If your vehicle has a
manual transmission, it could
roll even if the transmission is in
gear. You or others could be
injured. Be sure to set the park-
ing brake before shifting the
transfer case to N (Neutral).
4. Shift the transfer case into
Four-Wheel High.
5. Press and hold the Four-Wheel
High and Four-Wheel Low
Lock buttons together for
about ten seconds.
When the transfer case is in
neutral, the indicator light for
the neutral transfer case posi-
tion will turn on.
