2. Install the valve rocker arm retainer (1 ).
3. Install the valve rocker arms (1 ).
4. Apply thread lock adhesive GM P/N 12345493 or
equivalent to the rocker arm bolt threads before
installing.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and
Notices.
5. Install the valve rocker arm bolts (2).
Tighten
(
Tighten the valve rocker arm bolts to 15 N-m (
(11 lb ft). Use the
J 36660
in order to torque the ·
bolts an additional
90
degrees.
6. Install the valve rocker arm covers. Refer to Valve
Rocker Arm Cover Replacement (Right) or Valve
Rocker Arm Cover Replacement (Left).

• J 23590 Spark Plug Port Adapter
• J 38606
Valve Spring Compressor
1.
Remove the valve rocker arm and push rod. Refer
to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod
Replacement.
2. Remove the spark plug. Refer to Spark Plug
Replacement in Engine Electrical.
