Applying License Keys

The Setup Wizard: Licensing screen prompts you to enter a license key. You can also access the Licensing
screen directly on the operator panel and web client.
A single license key may be applied to the library during the initial configuration or whenever licensed
features are purchased. If an additional feature is purchased, the new license key will replace the current
license key.
All Scalar i500 library configurations ship with the purchased number of slots pre-activated (always a
minimum of 36). See

library configuration.
After the initial purchase, you can increase the number of usable slots in your library by purchasing a
Capacity-On-Demand (COD) license key. COD license keys come in 46-slot increments. For example, a
14U library could have 82 slots licensed (36 + 46 = 82) at the time of the initial purchase. The remaining 46
slots of the 14U library can be enabled at a later time by purchasing and applying a COD license key. The
full 128 slots would then be enabled and available for use. It is possible to license more slots than are
physically available in the library at the time. In that case, when 9U expansion modules are added, the extra
licensed slots then become available for use.

Obtaining a Capacity-On-Demand License Key

All Scalar i500 library configurations ship with the purchased number of slots pre-activated. The number of
available pre-activated slots begins at 36 for all library configurations and increases in 46-slot increments
to a maximum of 402 slots in the 41U library configuration. See
available pre-activated slots available for purchase for each library configuration.
After the initial purchase, you can activate any remaining inactive slots in your library by purchasing a COD
license key. Each license key activates an additional 46 slots in the library. For example, if you purchase a
14U library with only 82 slots of the maximum 128 slots active at the time of purchase, you can later activate
the remaining 46 slots by purchasing a COD license key. (See
information about the COD feature.)
