LABEL
VC Profile
Select a profile name to associate to this virtual channel.
DEFVAL
DEFVAL is the name of the default profile for LLC encapsulation.
DEFVAL_VC is the name of the default profile for VC encapsulation.
The following fields displays the settings in the virtual channel profile you select in the VC
Profile field.
Encapsulation
This field displays the type of encapsulation (LLC or VC).
AAL Mode
This field displays the mode of the ATM Adaptation Layer (AAL).
Traffic Class
This field displays the type of ATM traffic class: cbr (constant bit rate), rt-vbr (real-time
variable bit rate), nrt-vbr (non real-time variable bit rate), ubr (unspecified bit rate) or abr
(available bit rate).
Peak Cell Rate
This is the maximum rate at which the sender can send cells. Divide the DSL line rate (bps) by
424 (the size of an ATM cell) to find the Peak Cell Rate (PCR).
Cell Delay
This field displays the accepted tolerance of the difference between a cell's transfer delay and

the expected transfer delay.
Tolerance
Minimum Cell
This option is available for abr traffic class.
Rate
This is the minimum rate at which the sender can send cells.
Burst Tolerance
This option is available for vbr traffic class.
This field displays the maximum number of cells that the port is guaranteed to handle without
any discards.
OK
Click OK to save the changes and close this screen.
Cancel
Click Cancel to discard all changes and close this screen.

Changing Virtual Channel Settings

To modify the virtual channel settings, select an entry in the Virtual Channel Configuration screen and click
Modify. Then refer to Table 7-16 for information on the fields in the Modify Virtual Channel Configuration
screen.
