• CYLINDER
I nspect the cylinder bores for wear or damage.
Measure the cylinder I.D. at three levels in X and Y
axis.

Calculate the piston-to-cylinder clearance.

Check the cylinder top surfaces for warpage with a
straight edge and feeler gauge_

Oversize pistons and piston rings are available in
the following sizes:
0.25,0.50,0.75
and
1.00

• CONNECTING ROD SMALL END
Measure the connecting rod small end I.D. If the
reading exceeds the service limit, replace the rod.

Examine the rods for bends, cranks or other
damage.
Replace if necessary.
Calculate the connecting rod-to-piston pin clear-
ance.

CRANKSHAFT REMOVAL
Separate the crankcase (page 10-3).
Remove the transmission.
Remove the connecting rods and pistons (page
10-5).
Remove the crankshaft and cam chains.
