MAINTENANCE
BRAKE FLUID
Check the front brake fluid reservoir level.
If the level nears the lower level mark, fill the re-
servoir with DOT-3 or DOT-4 BRAKE FLUID to
the upper level mark.
Check the entire system for leaks, if the level is low.
CAUTION
Do not remove the cover until the handle-
bar has been turned so that the reservoir is
level.
Avoid operating the brake lever with the
cap removed. Brake fluid will squirt out if
the lever is pulled.
Do not mix different types offluid, as they
are not compatible.
Refer to section 14 for brake bleeding procedures.
BRAKE SHOE/PAD WEAR
FRONT BRAKE PAD
Check the brake pads for wear by looking through
the slot indicated by the arrow cast on the caliper
assembly.
Replace the brake pads if the wear line on the pads
reaches the edge of the brake disc (Page 14-5).
CAUTION
Always replace the brake pads in pairs to
assure even disc pressure.
REAR BRAKE SHOE
Replace the brake shoes if the arrow on the wear
indicator aligns with index mark on the brake panel
when brake is applied.
